Homemade granola is a delicious snack that can be enjoyed any time of day. It’s a great way to get a healthy dose of protein, fiber and essential vitamins and minerals. Making your own granola mix at home is easy, and it’s a great way to customize the flavor to your own personal taste. This recipe is for a delicious and sweet homemade granola mix that is quite tasty.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups of rolled oats
  • ½ cup of sliced almonds
  • ½ cup of peanuts
  • ½ cup of walnuts, (roughly chopped)
  • 1 cup of dried cranberries
  • ¼ cup of pumpkin seeds
  • ¼ cup of sunflower seeds
  • 1 cup of coconut flakes
  • ½ cup of maple syrup
  • ¼ cup of honey
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar
  • 5 Tbsp melted salted butter
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1.5 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 300F.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the oats, almonds, peanuts, walnuts, cranberries, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, coconut flakes, cinnamon and sea salt.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the honey, maple syrup, brown sugar, and melted butter.
  • Pour the honey, maple syrup, brown sugar, and melted butter mixture over the oat and nut mixture and stir together until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  • Line a sheet tray with a piece of parchment paper greased with butter or non-stick cooking spray.
  • Spread the prepared granola mixture out evenly on the parchment.
  • Bake at 300F for 30-40 minutes, stirring the mixture every 5-10 minutes to ensure even baking.
  • After baking, remove from oven and allow to cool for 30-45 minutes at room temperature.
  • Once cooled, add the chocolate chips and stir to incorporate.
  • Store in an airtight container.

Notes

This granola will keep well when stored in an airtight container in a cool location.
I was surprised to see that some recipes for granola will swap out the melted butter in favor of olive oil, which I suppose would have an interesting flavor and would probably be great. For me, there is something about the flavor of the toasted butter as it cooks slowly in the oven with the other ingredients that makes it my favorite choice here.
