I’ve recently been thinking more about rye whiskey and its potential applications in cocktails. I think it’s a wonderful spirit, with a lot of deep flavors. This recipe includes rye whiskey, gin, orange bitters, and lime, without much going on here in terms of alcohol dilution.
Try to avoid spending too much time stuck inside during the winter months drinking too many of these cocktails. But one of these can be wonderful when served in front of a roaring fire on a snowy night.
The recipe below makes one very strong cocktail.
- 1.5 oz Old Overholt Rye Whiskey
- 1 oz Gin of choice
- ½ oz lime juice
- 1 oz simple syrup
- 5 dashes of Orange Bitters
- Add ice to rocks glass.
- Add ingredients on top of ice.
- Stir and enjoy.
