Grown-Up Coffee Milkshakes

I have always loved milkshakes, especially when they are made with coffee ice cream. Throw a little Bailey’s Irish Cream and Allen’s Coffee Brandy in the mix, and you have yourself a party.
The recipe below makes roughly 2 large milkshakes.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream, very cold
  • 2 tsp white granulated sugar
  • 3 cups of your favorite coffee ice cream
  • ¼ cup whole milk
  • ¼ cup chocolate shavings, from a milk or dark chocolate bar
  • 4 oz Bailey’s Irish Cream
  • 2 oz Allen’s Coffee Brandy

Instructions

  • Prepare the whipped cream topping by whipping the heavy cream and the white granulated sugar with a stand mixer or hand mixer until soft peaks form.
  • *You can also whip your cream by hand using a whisk. If using this method, place a large metal mixing bowl with the cold heavy cream over another metal bowl filled with ice and whisk away. Having the cream stay cold will help facilitate the whisking process.
  • Reserve whipped cream topping the fridge for when you are finished with the milkshakes.
  • For the milkshakes, combine the ice cream, milk, Bailey’s, and Allen’s in a blender and blend until the ingredients are mostly incorporated.
  • Add the chocolate shavings from the chocolate bar and blend the shavings into the milkshake.
  • Serve in your glasses of choice, topped with the whipped cream.

Notes

These milkshakes are best made and assembled fresh.
You can always add more chocolate shavings to this recipe if you wish.
And of course, you don’t need to add the alcohol if you prefer a non-alcoholic version.
