Coquito

This delicious and fairly sweet drink originates from Puerto Rico and includes flavors of coconut, baking spices, and rum.

Ingredients

  • 24 oz cream of coconut
  • 48 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 48 oz evaporated milk
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 bottle of rum, white or spiced (750mL)
  • Cinnamon sticks, for garnish

Instructions

  • In a large pot on the stove, combine the cream of coconut, the condensed milk, evaporated milk, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg.
  • Bring to a simmer and stir to combine.
  • Remove from heat and allow to cool to room temperature.
  • Add vanilla extract and rum.
  • Stir to combine.
  • Pour the liquid into cleaned glass bottles and chill in fridge for serving.
  • Serve over ice, with a cinnamon stick or two as a garnish.

Notes

Make a batch of this before a big party when you have cold weather. Any leftover coquito can be stored in the fridge for a week.
