If you’re having a busy week and either have guests swinging by or obligations at a potluck, you probably don’t want to fuss much. • Toss so everything is coated.

  • Let the pretzels cool before serving. Note if it will be a day or two, store them in a sealable container for freshness.

ADDITIONS

  • Don’t be shy about trying add-ons in this recipe. Nuts, bagel chips, cheese crackers, croutons, bugles, and so forth. Just stand in the snack aisle of a store for creative ideas.

THE SWEET SIDE

  • The beauty of pretzels is that they have a fairly neutral taste. That means you can use the same recipe (sort of) for something sweet. The key is tasting your components. Since you won’t have a pre-measured item, testing will let you know how the strength of chosen flavors.
Ideas? Cinnamon sugar, vanilla powder, hot cocoa, or a fruit powder (peach, mango, lemon, orange, apple, strawberry, etc.).
